Australia provides a big competition

Izzy travelled to Australia to compete with the worlds best windsurfers in Melbourne and Perth.

Now full time, Izzy is shaddowing 2008 Olypian Bryony Shaw and competing and training around the world with her. She flew to Australia for the first time in November and competed in the Sail Melbourne Regatta in preparation for the World Championships in December. Although there was not a huge number of competitors, Izzy sailed well to finish 5th overall.

Training in Perth and the big seas took their toll and Izzy found it extremely tiring, but she was back up to speed for the Perth 2011 ISAF SAILING World Championships and sailed brilliantly. Up against 67 other windsurfers and the best in the world, Izzy managed to do well enough to make it into the gold fleet, i.e. the top half of the competition. After all the races she finished a very respectable 31st in the world and fellow team mate Bryony Shaw finished 7th.

After a short spell back in Weymouth, Izzy has flown out to Cadiz in Spain for two weeks of warm weather training.
