Forced rest

Sep 28, 12:14 PM | Athlete: Eden Francis

With the end of a busy season of competitions competing in two events, plus the misery of a torn cartilage in her knee, Eden has had to rest.

Eden’s knee was operated on earlier in September and following the keyhole surgery the doctor has advised that she should rest it for at least another five weeks before resuming training.

At the end of the season most athletes will take a break from the rigours of training and competing, so that they can return to a winter training programme refreshed and ready to focus on the improvements they inevitably will need to make. With a forced ‘feet up’ Eden has taken the opportunity to spend a week in Cyprus with fellow team mate Laura Samuel.

Eden had a great season and has finished ranked UK number one in shot put and UK number two at discus, which, with injuries aside, has put her in a great position for next year.
