Izzy has not long returned from Bulgaria where she was competing at senior level in the RS:X European Championships, held at Bourgas in Bulgaria.
The venue was a new one to the RS:X circuit, but it didn’t disappoint, with warm sun, sea and steady breezes. Izzy sailed well and achieved a very commendable 14th place, behind some of the world’s top sailors. Britain’s number one sailor, Bryony Shaw came in fifth. The racing conditions allowed for the maximum number of races to be held in the competition, 16, which meant that over the five day event on some days there were three contests, rather than two, amounting to a total of five hours on the water!
As the UK number two, Izzy is now assigned to Bryony Shaw’s coaches and training schedule in the lead up to 2012 and she will be heading out to Australia before the end of the year to compete at Melbourne in November and Perth in December.
