Season's end

Sep 27, 10:18 AM | Athlete: Laura Samuel

Laura has taken a well earned rest following the hectic competitions over the summer months.

Not only has she given training a rest for a couple of weeks, she has spent a week soaking up the sun in Cyprus. However, she won’t be long before she’s back training hard, she said, “The holiday was very needed, but I’m looking forward to getting back to training”.

Laura has ended the season ranked first in the U23 class and fourth in the UK seniors. Her best official jump of the season was 13.67m at the Aviva World Trials and UK Championships in July, although she achieved a wind assisted 13.77m earlier in the month.

The Aviva London Grand Prix in August was Laura’s last hope of qualifying for the World Championships in Daegu, but despite achieving 13.52m she didn’t manage to meet the qualifying distance of 14m. No doubt she will be focused on this as she looks ahead to winter training and 2012.
