Another personal best (PB) at of 59.78m in discuss saw Eden victorious at the UK Women’s Athletics League competition on the 6th of August. This also meant that she had gained her second B qualification standard making her eligible for the World Championships.
However, her joy turned to dismay as she learnt that despite qualifying she was not selected for the UK team heading to Daegu. The misery was further compounded, when a niggling knee injury from a week before was diagnosed as a torn cartilage. Talking about the outcome, Eden said, “I am very gutted after having achieved the selection criteria not to be selected and very confused as to why I was denied this opportunity. Unfortunately, my season has now come to a premature end: I am waiting for an operation on my knee and then I should be back into full training in eight weeks”.
