Competing with the best at the Aviva UK Trials & Championships, Eden has excelled to take gold in the shot put with a new personal best distance.
The event took place at Birmingham’s Alexander stadium and Eden threw 16.73m to take first place in the shot put, almost a whole metre ahead of her nearest rival. Telling us about the competition, Eden said, “ I threw 16.70m on my first throw, which was a new PB, then I bettered it on the second throw and I really enjoyed the competition. It was so hot though.” With little chance to rest and the discus event scheduled virtually straight after, Eden found the reserves to throw 53.99m which was good enough give her the silver medal.
Eden’s one, two in the shot put and discus, respectively, was a repeat of her performance in her previous competition on the 17th July at the McCain England Senior championships at Bedford. Stepping on to the podium in first place in shot put with a throw of 16.53m and second place in discus with a throw of 52.3m.
With more competitions to come before the end of the summer season, we look forward to watching Eden’s progress, the next event will be the UK Women’s Athletic League taking place at Lee Valley, London, on Saturday 6th August.
