Laura clinched a seasonal best (SB) in triple jump to take the gold at the Aviva UK Trials & Championships at Birmingham this weekend.
With near perfect conditions Laura jumped 13.67m beating the rest of the competition to win. The winning jump was officially recognized as the best Laura has jumped this season. This will be doubly pleasing for Laura. She said before competing, “I’m really looking forward to the event and I’m confident that everything will come together and I will also get the chance to see some of the UK’s top athletes in action.”
In her last triple jump competition Laura exceeded her personal best and jumped 13.77m, but as this was wind assisted (2.4m/s) it has not be officially recognized this season. She made the jump at the McCain England Senior Championships in Bedford on the 17th July.
BBC 2 will be broadcasting coverage from 6.30pm of the Aviva London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace which is Laura’s next event on Friday 5th August where she’ll be competing against other high class athletes from around the world. Then on Saturday, she travels to Lee Valley, London, to compete in the UK Women’s Athletics League.
