Summer in Weymouth

May 27, 07:57 AM | Athlete: Izzy Hamilton

Izzy took the last of this year’s university exams last week and has now decamped from Exeter to spend the summer training and based in Weymouth.

Exams have taken their toll on Izzy, she admitted, “my last race was at Hayling Island a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t have a good result because I was stressed out about the exams and it left me really tired”.

Glad to put this behind her now, she is concentrating on putting all her efforts on training at the London 2012 venue in Weymouth over the next few months. Talking about it she said, “I moved here this week, it will be so much easier to have everything on the doorstep and to be able to train daily”.

Izzy’s next competition will be the Skandia Sail for Gold regatta 6th to 11th of June. The event will take place at Weymouth and will bring together the world’s best Olympic and Paralympic sailors. It will be a tough race for Izzy as she will be up against the top three ISAF world ranked RSX women sailors, including fellow GBR sailor Bryony Shaw who is currently ranked no.2 in the world.
