Personal Best and wins for Eden

May 25, 09:05 AM | Athlete: Eden Francis

Proving that Eden is right on track for a packed summer of competitions, she threw a Personal Best in shot put of 16.68m at the Loughborough International this weekend.

Eden said, “I am really happy, it is great to see that everything is moving forward. The conditions were really bad though, very windy, but it was the same for everyone.”

The windy conditions weren’t favourable for the discus either with throw distances shorter as a result. However, Eden powered through to win with a throw of 56.48m, which was a meter shorter than the previous week’s win at the County Championships.

She went on to say, “I still have some catching up to do with my upper body strength, but I am working hard in the gym to improve it. I pretty much have a competition nearly every weekend now until mid September, so it’s going to be a busy summer.”

Eden’s next competition is the UK Counties Athletic Union inter county event at Bedford over the 29th and 30th of May.

After this she will be heading to Stratford, London where she and other Team GB athletes (including Laura Samuel) will be viewing the newly completed London 2012 Olympic stadium. During her time in London, Eden will be attending a meeting in preparation for the World Championships and next year’s Olympic Games.
