Boosted by her previous win, Eden has carried the success forward to win gold in shot put at the Aviva Indoor UK Trials and Championships.
Following the previous week’s win with a throw of 15.72m, Eden forged ahead with a throw of 15.85m to take the lead a full 94cm ahead of her nearest rivals in joint second and third places.
Happy with her performance, the weight training she has been doing is certainly paying off. Eden’s win proved not only her strength in body, but also in mind. She had a difficult week in the lead up to the competition after her grandfather suffered a stroke which has been very upsetting for her.
Looking forward to next month, Eden is readying herself for two competitions, firstly the Swedish Open in Växjö on 12-13th March and secondly the European Winter Throwing Cup in Sofia, Bulgaria on the 19-20th March.
The event in Växjö is the only one where discus can be thrown indoors, Eden said, ”I am looking forward to competing, its a fun and friendly competition and there will be a good mix of throwers from around the world. The event in Bulgaria is much more serious though and it will be my first outdoor competition of the season. I have competed there twice before in the U23 age group and last time round I won at discus and achieved fith in the shot put. However, this will be my first international competition at senior level, so I will have to see how it goes”.
