Usually wishing for good winds to sail in, the gale force winds that have blown across the UK the last few days have proved too strong for Izzy to train in.
Taking time out from university to join fellow Team GB windsurfers and sailors Izzy said, “I’ve just got back from an Olympic Development Squad training camp, which was in Weymouth. It has been a windy few days, which is normally what we need, but it was too windy for us to sail on Friday and Saturday. Not able to get out on the water, we instead turned our attention to other areas including swotting up on sailing rules and fitting in some intensive gym training. Unfortunately, it was so gusty (not to mention cold) when we were out on the water on Thursday and Sunday, that my sail has shredded and will need to be replaced”.
Luckily for Izzy, she tells us she and other members of the squad will be heading for Cadiz in Spain at the end of the month to fit in a week of training in more hospitable temperatures, adding, “I’ve got my fingers crossed for some nice warm weather.”
