In a spectacular end to the 2010 race season, David finished in style and won both the individual C1 class and the doubles canoe slalom C2 class at the British Open.
The event took place over the whole weekend with a national Premier Division race on Saturday 30th October and the British Open Championship finals taking place on Sunday. Staged on the purpose built white water course at Nottingham’s National White Water Centre at Holme Pierrepont, David won both classes on both days. Talking about the races, he said, “It was a really great race for me. With all the top Brits and some foreign paddlers over for the race, including French, Russians and Canadians it was a tough race and was pretty tight, but I was delighted to come away as double British Open Champion. I was defending the title in C1 going into the weekend, but have never previously won the C2 British Open.”
David is now looking forward to a break from racing and concentrating on training hard and improving his performance during the winter months.
