Cornwall calls

Aug 4, 11:32 AM | Athlete: Kerry Blewett

Kerry has temporarily swapped the flat waters of the National Water Sports Centre for the waves and surf of her native Cornwall.

Working again as a Lifeguard near Penzance, Kerry is using the opportunity to stay fit until full-time training recommences at Nottingham in September. Talking about her current situation she said, “I’m lucky because of the nature of the job I’m able to fit in quite a lot of my fitness training whilst I’m at work and I’m also cycling everywhere too”.

Not one to sit back and relax, she is keeping her competitive spirit afloat by taking part in a number of water based competitions. Taking part in the Blue Mile at Plymouth on 3rd of July, an event to highlight environmental issues in the ocean, Kerry swam the mile at sea in just over 24 minutes to win her class. Most recently she teamed up with a fellow lifeguard to win a handful of medals at the Surf Life Saving Cornwall Region Championships at the end of July, which included disciplines such as board and ski paddling, swimming and running.
