Izzy is the current World Youth Champion in the RS:X Windsurfer class.
Izzy first started out sailing dinghies on her local lake, but quickly progressed through the classes and when it was suggested she try Windsurfing she took to it straight away. The RS:X class is relatively new and in 2012 it will be the first time windsurfing becomes an Olympic sport. Izzy who lives near Bude trains on the south coast at the purpose built course in Weymouth.
As our youngest athlete, Izzy has already had a busy summer; after finishing her A-Level exams in June she immediately flew out to Sopot in Poland to compete in the Youth European Championships where she won the silver medal. Not content with silver, Izzy’s now turning her attention to the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships at Istanbul in Turkey, which take place from the 8th to the 17th of July and has a total 63 nations competing for the medals.
