Distant Horizons have been in talks with 2 of the National Park rangers who are responsible for the Ullswater area and also the Helvellyn range to make them fully aware of the Samworth Brothers Challenge Events in June and September and receive some feedback on their views of how to cause minimal impact to the stunningly beautiful yet fragile environment.


Do not leave litter of any type including orange peel, banana skins etc - take it out with you then take it back with you! There will be numerous bins to deposit garbage at the challenge base. Keep off path verges as this spreads erosion. Where possible ascend and descend on more solid ground than loose ground which again can weaken the ground surfaces and lead to erosion. Where paths zig zag or have hair pins do not cut the corners. Do pick up any litter you find and deposit in a bin at base. If you open a gate than make sure it is closed Do not climb over dry stone walls - use gates and stiles
